Camera in Nigeria: An Introduction

camera in nigeria

I have recently been picking interest in a gadget that precedes the mobile phone, this amazing gadget is called a camera.  I know a number of people might roll their eyes when I mentioned the word “camera”, but the truth is, we don’t really know the camera as we should and neither do we make use of it as much as we are supposed to. Since mobile phones started having cameras, more people have found less and less use for the traditional camera. But let’s not get carried away; smartphones have done a lot for photography and image capturing but there are tons of stuff that a professional camera would still beat the phone camera to.

However, our intention is not to compare both gadgets, rather we want to expose the camera and some of its parts to prospective photographers and people who just want to take pictures with better qualities than the smartphone can offer.

According to Wikipedia, A camera is an optical instrument for recording or capturing images, which may be stored locally, transmitted to another location, or both. I can spend time talking about technical terms that explain how exactly cameras capture and retain images but that would be a talk for another day. Today we would just brush you up on what you need to consider when getting a camera.

First, you have to know why you are buying the camera; is it for professional use or for just capturing your memories? Then you also have to consider your budget as most of us want top quality products but we might not be able to afford it. Once you put these two factors into consideration, your choices would be vastly trimmed down.

In professional photography, the megapixel only counts when you want to enlarge the pictures in editing. So if you are not planning to blow your pictures up for the billboards yet, then you can make do with even a pixel camera; it is about the picture itself and not the camera quality itself really.

Later as you progress in your photography career, you might want to consider buying better lens but at entry level, any good lens is fine really.

We would soon be intimating you on different types of cameras and also recommend which one for you to buy, but for now we hope you get intimate with the camera!
