Facebook has resumed hostilities against fake news sharing on its platform according to a report on the Daily Telegraph. This they have done by introducing a new tool which is apparently still being tested in the US. According to the report by Telegraph, some users saw a pop-up on their profile when they shared a story on their profile. The Pop-up reportedly read “disputed by multiple, independent fact-checkers.
Remember that Facebook has been on the news heavily after it has been criticised for helping the promotion of misinformation and spreading fake news on its site. In reply to the accusations levelled, facebook brought up some tools that will help them combat Facebook fake news, and they promised to “use reports from our community, along with other signals to send stories to these organisations.”
This tool is not available to all Facebook users yet, but we are sure that it will be implemented everywhere soon and if well implemented, it will help combat facebook fake news.
