Twitter 140 characters rules change

Twitter 140 characters

Remember when we reported that Twitter might be changing its rules about its character counter? well, it turns out that it is actually true as Twitter has started rolling out its new feature that makes sure that GIF, Usernames and media does not count as your tweet characters anymore.

So if you tweet a link to an article with a media attached (GIF, static image or video), Twitter won’t count the link or the media for the 140 character limit. Also, you reply to a persons tweet, their username would no long count as part of the 140 characters.

Twitter has also clarified that quote tweets and pollls will no longer count as part of the 140 characters. This new features are much needed and long overdue as the 140 character limit has been a debacle for a lot of the community’s users.

The upgrade is been roled out in phases, so if you dont have it yet, do not fret.
