Lenovo A5000 Hands-On Review: Superb Battery life and Great Camera Quality
Recently, we published the unboxing of Lenovo A5000 so you would know what to expect in every Lenovo A5000 you purchase either online or offline. Some weeks ago, we published the Specs and Price of Lenovo A5000 which you can see at our Gadgets Finder. We’ll be doing the Hands-on Review of the Lenovo A5000 Smartphone.
Now, with our hands-on, we’ll showcase and bring us very much closer to the device, with detailed info & photos, I bet after seeing everything you need to know here, you would opt-in for this device.
Lenovo A5000 is a 5inch HD IPS LCD display device with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels with 10 mm thickness and weighs 160g. The back cover is removable which houses the non-removable battery. Lenovo A5000 is quite handy with the 4000mAh battery capacity compared to Gionee M2 which has 4200mAh. Lenovo has not provided gorilla glass protection for this device which is little disappointing.
At the right side, we have the volume and Power buttons. The left side is completely blank and voice reception mic is provided at the bottom. The 3.5mm audio slot, noise cancellation mic & USB port is provide at the top while voice reception mic is provided at the bottom. The 8MP camera is placed on the top center of the device, with a LED flash and a Lenovo inscription underneath. The phone speaker located at the back and below the camera.
Lenovo A5000 has a 5.0-inch display with no Dragontrail glass to protect the screen. It has a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels with a display density of 294ppi. The Lenovo A5000 have 5 touch point capacitive panel.
Lenovo A5000 has 8MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front facing camera.The 8MP primary camera supports Autofocus, Touch focus, HDR, Smile detection, Face detection, Zero shutter delay mode, voice capture, panorama, smile shot, live photo, face beauty. It can take pictures at a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels, and supports video recording in 1080p with EIS and Time lapse interval. Even though 2MP camera is fixed focus it supports features like Face detection, Zero shutter delay mode, Voice capture and can record videos at 480p.
HARDWARE AND PERFORMANCE
Lenovo A5000 is powered by 1.3GHz Quad-core, Mediatek MT6582 Chipset coupled with 1GB of Random Access Memory. The Graphics Processor Unit is Mali-400 MP2 and 1.3GHz Quad-core CPU which will give an awesome gaming and multimedia performance.
Lenovo A5000 sports an 8GB of internal storage with approximately 4.93GB available for users. In case of RAM, out of 1GB, 552MB is user available. The device does support sports a micro SD card expansion up to 32GB. Lenovo has only provided 3 basic sensors Accelerometer, Light, Proximity sensors in this device which is little disappointing.
Lenovo has provided customized version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat with vibe UI for this device. The user interface of the device is customized and support different themes, and has features like Power saving mode and Wireless Display.
The other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G. Lenovo A5000 also comes with 4000mAh non removable battery.
Like we said above, The Lenovo A5000 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and with the Lenovo Vibe User Interface. And the available apps are placed on the Home screen, because there isn’t an internal menu which can be changed when you install a new launcher that supports internal menu.
Pre-installed Apps are Google Family (Gmail, Google+, Play Music, Play Newsstand, Play Games, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Hangouts, Google), Play Store, Games (Gamestore, Tap the Frog HD, Asphalt 8, Real Football 2015, Green Farm 3, Spider-Man), UCBrowser, txtr ebooks for reading books, WPS Office for reading and creating Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, CamCard for capturing of all your business cards and CamScanner, which is an intelligent document management solution for individuals, small businesses, organizations, governments and schools.
While it’s hard to differentiate between heavy use and normal use as it varies for different users, it’s safe the say the Non-removable 4000mAh battery is sufficient. It’s a battery you can use for a day or as this depends on how you use it.

Lenovo A5000 is a fantastic looking mid-range smartphone with 5-inch IPS HD screen, and good camera. The battery is the main selling point of the device and it got Dual SIM slots. we can say that the Lenovo A5000 is a mid-range phone with outstanding battery life which is guaranteed to handle pretty much anything you throw at it. I think is worth giving a trial if you are considering buying a budget friendly mid-range smartphone.
