twitter character counter

Twitter originally started using the 140 character limit because it was formed based on the short messaging service (SMS) principles and it has continued to stick to this principle since it became a renowned social media application. Even though the company had earlier decided to increase the number of characters to allow for more room for expression, they however. decided against going down that route and instead stuck with status quo.

However, in a new development, The verge is reporting that Twitter would now change the way it counts your 140 characters. According to the report, Media attachments (images, GIFs, videos, polls, etc.) and quoted tweets will no longer reduce the count. The extra free space for text will give users more options to express themselves in their messages.

Also, mentioning usernames at the beginning of a tweet would no longer count as part of the 140 characters, this will give users more room for discussion and expression. People like myself that are frustrated at the lack of space for proper expression would be delighted at this news.

Twitter became famous for its brevity and conciseness; this wa so because a lot of internet users have short attention span and twitter filed in the void for an application where you can express yourself in a brief, concise manner.

This is good news! I’ve been frustrated with the lack of space to adequately express oneself on Twitter since I started using that platform. But, now, I think this should increase their followers a bit. It’s a good one.

Am so happy to hear this, mentioning usernames, media
attachments, and quoted tweets will no longer reduce the 140 character count.

Also happy they didn’t decide to increase the character count i.e. turning into Facebook, because this is basically why twitter is my best social media platform.

I don’t want Facebook peeps to enter twitter with those stale, long and meaningless post, that’ll spoil the twiiter fun.

even as that small increase i hate there mode, they suppose to give us access to write what we have in mind than to stop us on the road side they are not the one typing we are so they don’t have to be like such.
